Buy from the maker, three hours down NH 48

Surat buys stone in quantity: whole-house floors for bungalows in Vesu, Pal, Piplod and Athwa, lobbies and lift cores for the towers along the Dumas Road, and showpiece stone for offices. Most of it is bought in Surat's own marble market, from traders selling slabs that were cut elsewhere, often by a cutter the buyer will never meet.

Flora Marble is that cutter, and it is three hours away. Flora Marble buys the blocks, direct from the quarries with no middlemen, and cuts, resin-treats and polishes them itself at Athal, Silvassa, as it has since 2002.

What the trip is worth

A Surat buyer who drives to Athal sees the whole lot, not one sample slab: the first slab and the fortieth, in daylight, with the people who will polish them. Italian whites such as Statuario and Calacatta, exotic and semi-precious stone for a double-height wall, and the beige marbles that cover a Surat bungalow from the entrance to the last bedroom are all standing in the sheds. Blocks and slab lots are then held in the project's name, so vein, tone and finish stay the same across the whole house or the whole tower.

If the drive is too much, send the drawings. We quote against them, show you the numbered slabs we propose, and cut to size at Silvassa before the crates are packed.

Quantity and consistency for Surat towers and bungalows

Bulk and project orders are most of what the factory does: one block, one polishing line and one finish schedule across the order, inspected, numbered and photographed before loading. Book-matched pairs for a double-height lobby, mitred edges and step profiles are prepared at Silvassa, not on site. Delivery to Surat is by truck up NH 48; the date is confirmed with each order.

Visiting from Surat

From Surat take NH 48 south past Navsari, Valsad and Vapi, then the Silvassa–Bhilad Road east to Athal: 140 kilometres, about three hours, with tolls. The factory is open every day from 8 AM to 8 PM. Call the one Flora Marble number and we will plan the day with you, or put you through to the right person for drawings and a quotation if you would rather not travel.

Questions we are asked

How far is Flora Marble's factory from Surat?

140 kilometres, about three hours by NH 48, a toll road. The factory is at Athal, Silvassa, open every day from 8 AM to 8 PM; call +91 98705 05138.

Do you deliver marble to Surat?

Yes. Slabs and cut-to-size pieces travel by truck from the Athal factory up NH 48 to Surat, Navsari, Bharuch and Ankleshwar. The date is confirmed with each order.

Why buy from Silvassa rather than Surat's marble market?

Because you buy from the maker. The slabs in a trading market were cut elsewhere, from a block the trader did not choose. At Athal you see the whole lot, hold it in your name and have it finished to your drawing, with every slab numbered and photographed.

Can I send drawings from Surat and get a quotation?

Yes. Send the drawings and the stone you have in mind; we quote per project and show you the slabs proposed. Prices depend on the stone, the lot, thickness, finish and quantity, so there is no published rate per square foot.

Which stones do Surat homes choose?

Beige marbles across whole floors, Italian whites for walls and islands, and exotic, semi-precious or onyx slabs for a showpiece wall or counter. More than 600 stones are on this website, each on its own page.
