The marble factory in Silvassa
Imported blocks from more than seventy countries arrive at our ten-acre factory at Athal, Silvassa, and leave as finished slabs: cut, resin-treated and polished under our own roof, as they have been since 2002. Buy from the maker, for a home in Vapi or a tower in Mumbai.
Cut and finished at Silvassa
Finished at the factory
Buy from the maker, not from an importer
Most marble suppliers in India buy finished slabs from an importer and sell them on. Flora Marble buys the blocks, direct from the quarries with no middlemen, and does the rest itself. Imported blocks are cut, polished and finished at our own marble-processing factory in Athal, Silvassa, so we control quality from the block to the finished slab.
Flora Marble has been in the natural-stone business in Mumbai since 1994. One of the original licence holders for marble imports in India, with three showrooms in Mumbai and this one factory, where every slab we sell is made. The Athal plant has been cutting blocks into slabs since 2002.
What the factory does
Blocks are weighed, dressed and reinforced, then cut into slabs on the gangsaw and three wire-saw machines. Every slab passes through a complete resin plant, so the face is cleaner and the slab stronger on site, before it is polished on an Italian Simec line. Gantry cranes, cutting and finishing departments and covered slab sheds complete the plant, on a ten-acre site.
Finishes: polished, honed, leathered, brushed and more. Thicknesses stocked at 16, 18 and 20 mm, and any thickness cut to order. Book-matching, mitred edges and step profiles are prepared here before the crates are packed. Slabs and cut-to-size only, in natural stone only: no tiles, no engineered quartz, no porcelain.
Every slab is inspected, numbered and photographed before it leaves Silvassa.
Who the factory serves
From Athal the factory supplies Silvassa, Daman, Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Bharuch, Ankleshwar and the rest of South Gujarat, Nashik, and Mumbai, Thane and Pune. Flora supplies projects across India from Silvassa and Mumbai.
Bulk and project orders are most of what the factory does. Selected blocks and slab lots are held in the project's name, so vein, tone and finish stay consistent across the whole quantity. Developers and companies Flora has supplied include Oberoi, K Raheja, Runwal, Lodha, Godrej, Hiranandani, L&T, Piramal, Tata, Adani, Shapoorji Pallonji, Kalpataru, Mahindra, Reliance Industries and ITC Hotels; Flora Marble also supplied the marble for the restoration of Flora Fountain, Mumbai's 1864 landmark.
