Onyx in Mumbai

Translucent stone that glows when lit from behind — for feature walls, bar fronts, reception desks and vanities. Selected at the quarry, book-matched in our own factory, seen lit in our Vile Parle gallery.

Why onyx is chosen — and where

Onyx is a banded, translucent stone: light passes through it, so a backlit onyx wall or bar front glows from within in a way no other material can. It is chosen for the one surface a room is built around — a lobby wall, a bar, a powder-room vanity — rather than spread across a floor.

Because it is softer and more delicate than marble, onyx belongs on walls, counters that see light use, and lit panels; we will tell you plainly where it will not last.

Book-matching and backlighting, done in-house

The magic of onyx is in the pairing. Imported blocks are cut, polished and finished at our own marble-processing factory in Naroli, Silvassa, so we control quality from the block to the finished slab. That lets us cut consecutive slabs from the same block and open them like a book, so the banding mirrors across the wall — and to cut them thin enough for even backlighting.

In the gallery we show onyx lit, because that is how you will live with it.

Questions we are asked

Can I see backlit onyx in Mumbai before buying?

Yes — our Vile Parle East gallery shows onyx slabs lit from behind, so you see the glow and the banding as they will appear on your wall.

Is onyx suitable for a kitchen counter?

Generally no. Onyx is softer than marble and scratches and etches more easily, so it suits feature walls, bar fronts, reception desks and lightly used vanities rather than a working kitchen counter.

Do you book-match onyx?

Yes. Book-matching — cutting consecutive slabs and mirroring them — is done at our own factory in Silvassa from the same block, so the pattern lines up across the wall.
