Stones for Navsari

Where Navsari's marble is actually made
Most marble sold in Navsari arrives as finished slabs through dealers who bought them from an importer, who bought them from a cutter. Flora Marble buys the blocks, direct from the quarries with no middlemen, and cuts, resin-treats and polishes them itself at its own factory at Athal, Silvassa, as it has since 2002.
For a buyer in Navsari that means 102 km to the slab sheds, about 2 hours by road, to see the whole lot in daylight with the people who will finish it. A morning there and back.
Navsari: homes, buildings and hotels
Navsari's bungalows and the farmhouses along the Dandi road are a morning's drive from the factory, up NH 48 past Valsad.
The order from Navsari usually reads the same way: a beige marble floor across the house, an Italian white, Statuario or Calacatta, on the feature wall and the island, granite for the steps, the terrace and the kitchen platform, and sometimes an onyx or a semi-precious slab for one wall that is meant to be noticed.
